My work in the Fitness and Medical field was pretty standard until 2005 when after working for a number of years as a physical therapist, I felt there was something missing in the current medical system. I saw a lot of patients repeatedly coming back into the system, unable to conquer their issues with chronic pain or repeated injuries. I observed that the current medical system unfortunately focused more on treating patients’ symptoms and often neglected their underlying problems. My Exercise Science and Physical Therapy degree has give me the opportunity to work in various clinics and hospitals treating all sorts of orthopedic and neurological injuries. However, my exposure to Ayurveda (East Indian Holistic Medicine System) at an early age has allowed me to look at rehabilitation from a more holistic perspective. I have realized that in order to prevent repeated injuries and improve overall health, we need to treat the whole person.
A New Moment
And so, to treat my patients more effectively, I returned to my roots and studied Ayurveda to become certified as an Ayurveda herbalist. I have studied both in India and in the United States, with Ayurvedic physician Dr. Vasant Lad from the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico and with Ven. LosangJinpa at the Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute of the Medicine Buddha Healing Center.
Everything changed. And I mean everything.
Combining exercise science, physical therapy, and Ayurveda has fundamentally transformed my practice. Over the years I have seen that using a holistic approach helps patients recover faster, stay healthier and remain injury-free. Now with 20 years of experience working with athletes, kids, the elderly and people from all walks of life, I want to share with everyone the holistic solutions I have used to help thousands of people recover from injuries. Even though I initially trained in the modern medical system with a traditional attitude towards health and fitness, here I’m today with a whole new outlook and believe that we need to combine both the modern and eastern medical systems to lead healthier and injury-free lives.
